Hi RC,
I wish you all the best in dealing with this great loss. My wife and I know how your mindset is today, we had a couple of years ago the same issue with our dog, which is 4 months ago replaced by another great puppy
RIP mr K and lovely thoughts for you RC!"Sailing is an Art"

- Re: Leg 3

The procedure for the race closing was clearly mentioned:
To maintain as great a continuity as possible, while being fair to everyone, each leg after Leg 1 will open for registration as soon as practicable after the previous leg winner's arrival and the new race will commence as close to 48hrs after that finishing time as is possible. For example, if the winner of Leg 2 arrives at the Cape of Good Hope finish at 0300utc then Leg 3 will open for registration as soon as possible (subject to SOLgods and goddesses bunk time!) and Leg 3 will begin racing at or very close to 0300utc +48hrs later.
The registration for each leg will close 24hrs after the leg starts.
Each leg will, subject to server loads, remain open for a few days after the winner arrives to permit as many to complete as possible. For those SYC Members who find legs closing before they finish, do not be too distressed as your position on the Leaderboard at race close will count as your ranking in that leg."Sailing is an Art"

I was one of the first members of SOL who "invented" co-skippering, together with Bgosh, Moongirl and Rico. We competed almost in every race, and it is impossible to be at the helm yourselve all the time. So, for me, there is nothing news under the sun.IRL, you are also acting as a team isn't it, so what's the difference. Keep up the good sailing Itallian friends!"Sailing is an Art"

I'm from Belgium, living near Antwerp. 50 years old, married, 3 children.
When I was 7 years, I was invited by a family-friend to make my first blue-water trip on his Swan40. Sailed for 10 years with that boat, mostly in the North-European waters. Later on I jumped into ocean racing and sailed twice around the world. Was involved in the Belgian Whitbread around the world race (Rucanor) and was owner of a VO60 (Tokio) until 1999.
Last year I participated in the ARC with a Beneteau 50."Sailing is an Art"

I agree with Schakel. I am one of those who hasn't sailed during the last months because of:
1. I disagree to sail in the same competition as routers
2. the amount of races to sail is to much to keep you up in the ranking"Sailing is an Art"

Guys, I did the Round Britain and Ireland Race twice double-handed. One of the rules is that you have to leave ALL islands at starboard side... So, what's the issue???? Going in BETWEEN islands is against the spirit of the official race."Sailing is an Art"

I'm only interested in a ranking Corinthian sailors versus sailors using software. As it is now, non-software users will never ever have a chance to win a race!
In the start-up of SOL everybody had equal possibilities to win, but that (good) times are far away... main reason for me to not take part on races the last months, winners are known already before a race starts..."Sailing is an Art"

Marstrand to Cowes 2025

We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The 650nm route will take our Ripitide 50 across the North Sea and the English Channel to Cowes, England. Watch out for the fast ferries crossing the Channel from Calais to Dover 😊.

Nantucket Sprint 2025

Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Enjoy!

Nearly there; only 2500nm to go, round the Horn and up the Red Sea to Suez into what will more than likely be more headwinds for this sixth leg of our African circumnavigation, to be followed in September by a final sneaky dash up the canal back to where we started all those months ago. Welcome to the legendary "Westcoaster," a race that has tested sailors for over 50 years. Spanning 435 nautical miles, this iconic journey takes racers from Melbourne, across the formidable Bass Strait, and around Tasmania's rugged west coast to the finish line in Hobart. Organized by the Ocean Racing Club of Victoria, the Westcoaster is renowned for its challenging conditions and adventurous spirit. This year, our SOLers will tackle the course in the swift and capable First 47.7, a yacht launched by Beneteau in 2000, built for speed and endurance in long ocean races. Get ready for an exhilarating ride in one of Australia’s most celebrated yacht races!

Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
