As long as we can't change it, best we live with it on an equal footing. This might have seen the light of day when we went ice yachting on Winnebago, but then we switched PL off altogether (another solution!).
I am not guaranteeing anything written in the attached is the best way of "evading" usurious PL, just stuff that works for me (if I get it right).

Hi Guys,
While Qt crunches here's two further thoughts on the matter.
1/ two headsails is exactly how I always interpreted this polar, which has the merit of keeping you busy.
1a/ two downwind sails (a gennaker and an oversized symmetrical) also seems to be part of the wardrobe, for more HOT (hand on the tiller) sailing.
2/ there is a source against which we can compare our data. VR are running the Mini Transat at the moment and their polars are available on http://gwranking.forumactif.org/h10-outils-pour-vrtool. I'll do a comparison and report back.

It rectified itself, I see, DFL. Thing is, as I now know to my cost, having graduate recently from the SOL Academy with a Bachelors in Administration, you can write whatever you like in the race announcement. It is entirely disconnected from what is actually set-up on the server. Hence it can occur, that when an old race description is used for a re-run a year later, the boat-type in the announcement is left unedited, whereas in fact the SRC (Sail Online Race Committee) have determined a different boat shall be used (in this case the Volvo 70 Leg 4). Apologies.

ArghKay, yo pecky parrot, y'ave a point. Loved the idea he didn't sleep, but his crimes are a bit real and recent c'est vrai. Well then, I shall sail slightly more thinly disguised as plonknbooty, not a person, nor alive nor dead! Aye!

plonknbooty has a fine ring to it - if ye consider rum to be plonk!

Hah, this time I shall impersonate Abdul Hassan (still alive and from Somalia), aka "the one who never sleeps"! so Wikipedia tells me.

Not convinced someone living should be impersonated... forget litigious, think gun-wielding!. Please would you reconsider your choice?

We were racing in The Black Sea and, as sometimes happens, Smo was a little late for the start. In The Mouth of Denmark's absence I took it upon myself to honour him and his great sportsmanship with a not quite perfectly rhymed Limerick:

In Finland lived King Smo,
An outdoor bloke, you know.
But not so punctual in starting,
So’no, at times he was not smo-king,
As in along; not ‘cool.. man.. slow…’.

The arcane chronometry of SOL

1. All commands, whether entered via sailonline.org or sol.brainaid.ie or the Zappe android app – delayed as well as immediate (but never the less slightly delayed) – are executed via the DC Editor.
2. There is full synchronicity between the DC Editors seen on sailonline.org, on sol.brainaid.ie and on the Zappe android app. You are looking at the same thing in each case.
3. The commands execute at the NET Times registered in the DC editor; always.
4. If you are using the hh:mm:ss clock on your pc to check and count time, this clock may be out of sync with NET Time; go to http://www.timesynctool.com/ to find out how to remedy this.
5. Only the commands entered (or corrected) via sol.brainaid.de are always WYSIWYG; the commands entered (or corrected) via sailonline.org generally are, but not always; the commands entered via the Zappe app never are.
6. These discrepancies can change from session to session, but are constant during a session; establish what it is, do the maths and enter an adjusted time to get the time you want.
