None so blind
Try using a traceroute tool, there are many free ones - even offering nice maps to visually show the route between your PC and SOL (or any other destination)

Note the route to SOL, and then try it again later and compare (multiple times)

Also, to test PnG's idea, type 'my ip address' into Google, note it down and compare with the same Google command a while later (multiple times)

It really means little that 2 others could login as you, and see the race. This was never something to do with your login. All it really does is confirm SOL end is fine, and that it is something between YOU and SOL that is messing with the race client.
I help develop the client interface for the best online ocean racing sim there is... __/)/)_/)__
Ya hoo. In and rocking.

Won't work with sailonline.org/windy/run/283/#
but works fine with the # changed to '?beta=true' instead.

Thanks AG and to RC for that post on Crew I spotted.
Bugger. All fine this morning but 6 hours later all I get is a white screen. Cleaned, dumped and tickled machine but still no joy.

Also noticed my boat has 2 or 3 times just randomly gone TWA = 0. Doesn't appear to sail a TWA even if set at one and seems to be working on CC only.

I get the blue screen if I push the 'go to race' so have been using the ?beta=true way and it was working.

Maybe it just doesn't do Wednesdays :)
Hi Knotme,

This is strange, so you could aces the beta before and now it plays up again? Does the problems resemble the thing you had before?

And the normal client is that one working atm?

Certainly try a alternative browser and see what that does, but it seems you already got those suggestions .
I provide feedback and am admin of Sailonline.

G'day J,

Yes it's weird for sure.

I lost the ability to get in very late in Leg 3. So Otto and Sloop aimed me at the finish. I tried cleaning everything out etc. Still no joy. Then after my boat had finished by a few days I managed to get back in and saw the new interface (I do like that by the way), that would have been when my boat rounded the last mark in the Bimini race. Then I couldn't get back in again.

Have been trying periodically since then, along with cleaning history and all that stuff but with no luck at all. All I got to was seeing 'initialising' in the middle of the blue screen then it just stopped. I've never got past since it first started late in leg 3 and the only time I've got in since is by using the ?beta=true addy.

Then I saw Rainbows post on Crew about the ?beta=true option so used that and it worked good so I got to start leg 4. The 1st night (NZ Time) the boat went TWA 0 at some stage for no apparent reason. I carried on but have the suspicion the boat would only go on CC even though I set it at a TWA. That may have just been a lack of weather change but something just didn't seem quite right.

Then the day before yesterday I went in at approx 1900 GMT and all was working fine. Tried again at around 0400 GMT the same day and only got a white screen and it went no further. Nothing changed at my end on the machine as far as I know.

So I mentioned to Sloop I was having issues. He went in and found my boat at TWA 0 again. I had been making a point of not setting DC's so I could monitor my theory about the TWA but only getting CC.

Also right at the start of Leg 4 I did notice I had a lot ( 8 or 9 of them) of DC's set when I hadn't set any. I deleted them all and carried on. There is also a slight suspicion the boat was going a little slower as I was lined up next to a couple on what appeared the exact same course yet they were covering more ground that I was but again that may have just been me being a degree or 2 different.

So it's all rather weird. I'll try differing browsers and machines and see how I got. I'll post anything I find back here.

Have a great day,
Grant

Same issues here Grant

Haven't been able to get on for last 2 1/2 days and am using same laptop as always. Have tried different browsers, and last night different computer at a differnet IP with no joy at all.

Hope boat still gong as was in top 50 for a while before I lost it altogether.
That's a bugger EC.

I've been trying different browsers, machines, and locations also but get the same each time. I saw we all had a Flash update on friday and hoped that may do it but no joy. Even tried on Vista and XP.

I'm not even getting to the initialising stage anymore, just the 2 polar bears shagging in a snow storm screen i.e the white one ;)

What gets me is Otto, Sloop and Paul have logged in as me and had no issues, bar finding my boat has gone TWA=0 for no obvious reason.

Oh well, it does give me more time to build my new IRL cockpit :)
Number one: is your connection always good, like at least ~200kbs down? And that it is stable, not going up and down.

If you are using Windows, it could be an issue with Windows Firewall. Since an windows update, and a java and Adobe Flash update in the last week, I've had some problems with sites like The Cobert Report and The Daily Show, not loading. I'm pretty sure something was tweaked in the firewall.
Next step for me is to go back and see which update is causing problems.

I've had no problems with sol loading.

Whooo, I just got back in. Been randomly trying some days and made it.

No idea why and can't think of any changes to the machines. Set course knot to hit anything, crosses fingers and hopes.

How do I check connection speed Jack?

Just went to speednet and got -

Joanne's Test Race Zone

In 1947, Hugh McLean & Sons of Gourock, Scotland built a radical racing yacht for John Illingworth, soon-to-be Commodore of the RORC, to a design by Laurent Giles. With a masthead rig, giving her ‘free’ sail area per the rules of the time, and short overhangs reducing pitching, Myth of Malham went on to win The Fastnet that year and again in 1949, and to compete in numerous Admiral's Cups. In 1958, in honour of the yacht, the Myth of Malham race was conceived - a mini-Fastnet to the first lighthouse on a rock west of Cowes, Eddystone, rather than the second, to be held in non-Fastnet years. IRL this year it has been raced already, but this stops us not from “Red Eye” racing its online 230nm in Fareast 31Rs, leaving how to deal with the Isle of Wight open to your own discretion.

Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
