There happened strange things in the ranking last night, Orno11 is ok, but Orno12 appears double, once as a timed race. Results aren't correct too.
Please find a solution. I don't want to sail around Orno again

Very strange indeed. I too have a DNS second place in the Ornö Timed Race(!!!) and the Key Lime Piegatta Encore appears twice.
This also happened after the Norrtelje Maze Race. Incidentally the 'Races' list includes races that were never started. Might this confuse the rankings? |

Thanks for noting this. I will have a look if I can find a simple fix for this one or get one of our experts too look into it.
We had a extra race in the db that was later replaced with the Delayed Orno Runt. It seems the other one was ranked as well. it should be fixed once the server re-calculate the rankings again. --- Last Edited by Jeroen Tiel at 2010-12-13 09:06:22 --- I provide feedback and am admin of Sailonline.

There still seems to be a problem with the Orno Runt 12.th December appearing everywhere with a DNS 38. In Jepsom's racelist it even appears twice (as DNS 38).

Hi All... just a quick question on rankings. Am I correct that the "final ranking" for a race is not posted until the race is considered "completed" by all boats? I am seeing DNF for both the recent Salvador and S.Atlantic races but with points attached.
Also, how are points assigned again? I'm just curious since I am not going to be some SOL-star but it helps me understand if I am getting better. Thanks! SP |

Hi SP
being on top of SYC ranking ( and that is now since a while , so it is a little boring for some ) I feel the duty to answer your questions :
1) the system runs the ranking update once a day sometimes in the middle of the night ( something like 0300Z ). If your boat is active at that time in one race , your actual leaderboard position at that instant is reported for that race , and assigned code DNF ( did not finish). When you finish one race your final actual result will show after the next daily rerun . 2) Points system is ISAF low score ( very easy ) ...you take as many points as your position at end of race ...the one with lower sum of points is on top ).
If you DNF you take as many points as your latest position when race is closed If you DNS ( did not start ) you take as many points as total numer of boats enrolled into race. ( If you do not enrol or you enrol but do not start is the same total DNS points ). Hope clear ...Happy Xmas and hope to see you soon in SYC membership as well as climbing up the ranking . One note : When you enrlol all your races previous to enrolment count for your ranking ....( speed up ) )))

apologies SP ...just noticed that you are indeed SYC member with ranking position 160 . As soon as you complete at least 10 races and the Orno 12 december mistake is cleared you will see yourself in top 100 ....It is a promise ...

Thanks Win!! That all make sense. It seems geared toward benefiting those that compete in more races and climb up (actually down!) the ladder.
I also have a winning strategy for 2011.. I am going to tie my bow line on your transom and learn the best routing strategy from one of the masters. See you in Tasman and Weddell!! SP |

Marstrand to Cowes 2025
We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The 650nm route will take our Ripitide 50 across the North Sea and the English Channel to Cowes, England. Watch out for the fast ferries crossing the Channel from Calais to Dover 😊.

Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
