Is it possible to change some of the colours of things on the course.
Our own boat is Magenta,lead boat is simular. Sometimes when the lead boat jumps ahead you think it is your own boat.Marks, arrows, names and rumbline are red. In the shorter races when the fleet is tightly bunched it gets a bit hard to define what is what.Or maybe even put the arrows away from the mark, say one before and one after and the names further away from the marks. Also is it possible to make the BS and VMG numbers in the steering tab a wee bit bigger. Thanks --- Last Edited by victory at 2010-08-22 15:06:05 --- |

Another vote for all Victory's suggestions.
We are all getting old here and those tiny little numbers (so important to see) get very difficult to differentiate the 6's with the 8's and the 5's. LOL And I agreed the leading boat should have a completly different color than our boat. (Yes, yes, the youngster here on SOL may not understand our request but wait till you are way past 50 and you will understand) Thanks, Antonio |

I totally agree with Victory's suggestions too. If possible it could be taken one step further by having the ability to toggle on or off the rhumbline and lettering for the waypoints, by toggling the rhumbline and lettering off when needed it would make planing and navigating around waypoints a lot easier when in full zoom. I have no idea how hard that is to code though... just put it on wishlist.

I agree with Victory, Zero and Exmeromotu. From time to time I do well, like this last weekend and I can see that when you are competing and really need to concentrate the points that Victory raises becomes critical to your success. If we can make a few changes it would make a big improvement.

Let me try to summarize your points, please correct me if I forgot anything!
1. Bs and Vmg in stearing tab should be bigger. 2. There should be a better distinction in colors between own ship, marks, rhumb lines, and leading ship. 3. It should be possible to turn off rhumb lines and texts. Point 1. should be easily fixed. Point 3. requires some new button and some thought. Point 2. might be fixed by looking at the IHO S-52 standard for presentation of digital charts (with some level of freedom): Colors given in day/night: Own ship and predictor: magenta/magenta. Leading ship: blue/blue. Waypoints: red,green/red,green. Rhumblines and Arrows: orange/orange. Waypoint Text: black/white. The shades of colors should be adjusted to give a good contrast depending on day or night view. Please help by providing some feedback if I got everything in my list, it's so much easier to look through the code just once... Thanks! _/)_/)_/)

One suggestion that I had made earlier in another thread somewhere (Technical Issues) relating to the tracks of other boats and their day/night visibility.
The ability to invert the colour of all tracks via an either/or toggled radio button. There may be a more elegant method to make all tracks visible in all conditions but I felt my suggestion would accomplish the most with the least amount of work. Currently the leader & your own tracks are automatically displayed with the ability to select one other boat. Would it be possible to select 2 boats aside from the leader & your own to highlight in case you wanted to follow a head to head competition that you are not involved in ? --- Last Edited by Elmer Fudd at 2010-08-26 19:41:43 --- None so blind |

The little 4 numbers on the top right (TWS/TWD,NM/angle) and the BS/VMG at the steering cursors are the most difficult to read. It would be super great to see those numbers bigger. Thank you very much, appreciate your help. Antonio |

I also would like the instrument panel to change color during night, to some kind of orange/yellow shade perhaps. And is it possible to add a toggle button for turning the right panel (polar etc) on/off to make the map window larger?

Marstrand to Cowes 2025
We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The 650nm route will take our Ripitide 50 across the North Sea and the English Channel to Cowes, England. Watch out for the fast ferries crossing the Channel from Calais to Dover 😊.

Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
