You say the above, so why was there a arrow pointing us to keep the island to port? Which some sailors did do, so they are being PUNISHED for following it! |

The answer I got was that they are there to show the order for "rounding" marks. This of course makes little to no sense as the path shows the order and one would think the arrows show direction. I read the manual very carefully and I don't see how the wording makes any of this clear at all. Of course this is all moot as in reality you don't need to round marks at all. Rounding by definition implies going around, when in fact all one has to to is trigger the software by being on the back side of the marker while travelling in any direction, and then one is free to continue the course.
If the news on the home page is followed through then I think SOL will be repairing the race rules in a very responsible manner. I hope it can be done expediently. In the mean time I will be rounding marks as if real sailing. The focus of SOL according to the home page is realism, and this is why I have come over from Virtual Regatta. I hope all attempts possible to model after real sailboat racing continue. |

I agree mark rounding was an issue and I am happy that Kalle has worked something out so ensure correct direction of the rounding.
Nevertheless, as SOL is a game (even if many, me included, take it very seriously), I would suggest to keep low the tones of the polemics. It has happened that some races have been decided by a DNS error, a network glitch (remember that 76?) or by an impossible passage discovered by someone. As there will always be a next race there is really no point in complaining about the software loopholes (no one talking about SLI jumping?? To me it is exactly the improper as this kind of mark rounding, but many still make attempts to it). Having said that, rude language is never welcome between sailors and their lurking young relatives. But it can end with an apology and a chilled beer  |

Instead of working with arrows, why not working with numbers like it was in the past to give the correct order of followng the waypoints. The direction of rounding can be given by arrows AND text.
Together with solving the bug by Jacob, there should be no misunderstanding of rounding WP any more. I rounded the WP the same way as Incognito did, after the discussion started I returned back to the WP and waited till the first "normal" rounder arrived before continuing the race because I found Victory has a point there. After all I ended 17th... "Sailing is an Art" |

We are working on a solution where arrows will remain AND will be reinforced by the server. I think that will solve this issue /Jakob...one of the guys behind the game... |

Disclaimer: I did not race in the San Juan event, so anything I say here is without the benefit of actually reading anything that was posted in the chat during the race.
I applaud SOL for taking the necessary measures to resolve this issue. I would suggest using the term Clockwise ( CW ) & Counter-clockwise ( CCW ) for Mark rounding. Secondarily, even though it has not been discussed in this context, I believe SOL should take this opportunity to remove the ability to "backdoor" the finish line. None so blind |

We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
