New version for those who are interested.
Go to the page 'VMG overview' and change only the figures in red. Two exceptions: -'Chosen setting' where you can input either a TWA in cell C7 or or a CC in cell C8. - Cell V10, which defines the scale of the graph. --- Last Edited by Incognito at 2010-02-24 20:19:56 --- |

There are 3 main changes:
- I added an input for the settings that you are using or want to use in cells 'C7' and 'C8', an the corresponding data in colum 'G2:G8'. - I added the VMC row 'E6:T6'. - I added a macro to adjust the graph automatically when changing cell 'V10'. I am already thinking of the next version. I would like to give it a more dynamic character by providing key data at various wind speeds and wind angles. That requires a bit more programming however, and that is always time-consuming. |

Almost correct, but it will not work with the Santa Cruz spreadsheet. Reason is that the Santa Cruz polar data does not come from brainaid's site. It is an own construct based on the raw data provided in the race screen. (Interestingly, my interpolations seemed to come very close to the real thing.)
Anyway, here is how to use the spreadsheet for another boat. 1. Download the attached spreadsheet for the Seacart 30. 2. Download the polar data from Brainaid's site and copy it into the cells 'A11:d7250' on the page 'Data'. 3. Right-click on any cell in the table 'F9:AT191' on the page 'Data'. 4. Select 'Refresh Data' in the menu that just appeared. You should see some changes in the table as a result. 5. That 's it! You are ready to go. |

Thanks for your reply but it doesn't work...
When pasting new polar data, the following error message appears : "La taille et la forme des données ne correspondent pas à la zone sélectionnée" If I ignore that message, values obtained in spreadsheet don't correspond with reality. Sorry for the trouble... |

Salut François, j'espère que tu vas mieux maintenant.
En fait ce que je recherche pour l'instant, c'est un moyen de connaître le meilleur twa pour une tws donnée... Pour cela, je n'ai que ta feuille de calcul et j'essaye de rentrer les data obtenues sur le site de Brain ou dans l'onglet "boat polar" du bateau en question et selon le mode d'emploi que tu indiques plus haut. Mais je suis une vraie bille en info et je dois faire quelque chose de faux sous excel sans savoir quoi évidemment... Merci d'avance ! |

Marstrand to Cowes 2025
We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The 650nm route will take our Ripitide 50 across the North Sea and the English Channel to Cowes, England. Watch out for the fast ferries crossing the Channel from Calais to Dover 😊.

Nantucket Sprint 2025
Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
