I'm very disapointed.
I'm doing the Volvo. Yesterday I programmed a course change for a few hours later after the buoy. It was supposed to be good. And today I see that my boat changed its course BEFORE the buoy. How is it possible? Can't we trust the game? If the previsions (position at a given time)given by the game are not reliable you should say it. |

I am very sorry you feel this way. We all sail in as true conditions as possible given the information we get from the american weather service NOAA. The predictor in front of your boat predicts your path given the latest forecast. We get 4 forecasts per day. If you let your boat sail on auto for several days you will likely not sail very optimal. Are we ok now?

I'm not completely stupid. I programmed my change for the moment where the boat was (predicted) over the buoy. And today I see that the boat changed before the buoy. How is it possible? The delay was something like 3.50 hour. For me it's 3h 30 mn. Right? I'm absolutely certain I didn't make any mistake. So the previsions are not reliable.Or did I make a delay error?

Setting delays for a exact mark rounding is always tricky, are you sure that there was not a weather update during the delay. That is the most common cause of a delay not working as expected. 3.5 is indeed correct for 3 h 30 min delay I provide feedback and am admin of Sailonline.

That's surely the only explanation : a weather update.

hm, I made the same experiences like Marco. I worked half an hour on the right time for the rounding, I sorted it out and checked it with CC and TWA and I gave another 5 minutes to it, to be on the safe side and another half a degree. The course could be nicely watched with the predictor and it was fine. That happened exactly 3 hours before rounding, and 20 min after the new weather. Just to miss the wp for 0.1 nm.
We had an finishing line issue at the Great Lakes Race, you will remember, where I (and lots of others) had the same problem. I guess tonight we had again a computation issue where some were good and some felt through the gutter - like it happens with small thin islands, where some can hop over it and some are stucked. cheers Stu |

We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
