CIAO Aaron !
Nearly nine months ago we left from Adelaide with strong commitment towards two precise objectives : ---- Honor your name and memory bringing you with us around your little house ( Australia  ) by giving your name to our boat.
---- Place your name forever on TOP of the ranking of this nine legs long adventure as Winner of the series. Nine months later we can say : “Mission accomplished” !!! and knowing well the amount of dedication and effort that we , together with the entire SOL community have put up for this achievement , everyone will understand our happiness and excitement. What we really want now is to SHARE our joy and our tribute to you , young friend , with the entire SOL community , that bunch of passionate people who will never forget you . As we have now entered Adelaide bay , we will sail the last few miles and hours of this long tribute changing the name of the boat to ALL 4 Aaron virtually taking on board the full community , for us ALL together to pay our tribute to your memory. And finally , we will SHARE this achievement with your loved family . After the finish line we will deliver this boat to your mother , for you to play with us forever. I am relatively new in this fantastic community (SOL) of which I only later got to know how much Aaron had given to.
I've never met Aaron and I learned about his passing. In time I began to understand and am still learning more about the legacy he left behind. This has generated in me a tremendous respect and a feeling of loss for not having known him. To his family I would like to present these thoughts as a small token of what Aaron has come to mean to me. To those that got to know him, thanks for showing me Aaron's contribution. This has been a wonderful and, at times, emotional experience for me. Aaron and I exchanged a few emails as I was learning SOL, and I still go back occasionally and read his blog posts. I really miss his camaraderie here. I know we are all appreciative of his tireless efforts and contributions to SOL.

I didn't met him, I started in SOL after he left us, but running this series of races it was as if I had known him.
Thanks ITA_4_him, thanks all for him! I'm sure that all of us have taken part in these races differently from the other ones, waiting with excitement every new leg and giving the most of every minute, giving the technique, the strategies. using the mouse and the keyboard, but especially, I feel we’ve played with the heart. We brought his memory all around Australia and now I like to believe that in everywhere around Australia hovers his soul. I wonder to myself if he raced with us, who knows on which boat he was, or which team he was cheering for, who knows what would have been his choices in these races, and who knows how long the Australian’s winds will keep his name and his memory. The answer, as Bob Dylan says, …..is blowing in the wind! |

Marstrand to Cowes 2025
We invite you to another race, which will kick off the third quarter of our ARCH series. We'll set off from Marstrand, Sweden, which, along with Skagen, Denmark, marks the line commonly recognised as the border separating the Baltic Sea from the North Sea. The 650nm route will take our Ripitide 50 across the North Sea and the English Channel to Cowes, England. Watch out for the fast ferries crossing the Channel from Calais to Dover 😊.

Welcome to Nantucket, from whence Herman Melville’s Cap’n Ahab sailed round The Horn into the northern Pacific Ocean to hunt the gray whale - whose migrations are celebrated elsewhere in SOL’s Q4 schedule - he never to return. And whaling too, as the 19th C progressed, like Ahab disappeared from Nantucket as the harbour silted up and mainland Massachusetts whaling stations benefited from rail connections. But beach life, yachting and nostalgia has rescued the island from oblivion, so to celebrate leisure, SOL gives you the Nantucket Sprint - 25nm in 29er_XX’s from east of Tuckernuck Island across the sound to a finish just inside the mouth of the harbour. Aland Sea TIMED Race
Norrtalje Segelsallskap, 70km NE of Stockholm was founded in 1920, and time was when the society’s season opened with a challenging offshore race from the club line off Flaten island at the mouth of the long and narrow Norrtaljeviken, out onto a triangular course around the Aland Sea, to finish at Simpnas slightly to the north on Bjorko island - some 78nm in total. A fine race that SOL, being from these parts, ran annually up until 2013. Last run in autumn 2018, we return here to race the course again in the form a TIMED RUN in spanking new Club Swan 50s.
